From the peninsula to your flight.
Bellagio stands on the point where the Como and Lecco branches of the lake meet, with water on three sides and no railway. By public transport, Malpensa means a ferry to Varenna or Como and then trains with at least one change: two and a half to four hours depending on connections, lifting every suitcase on and off. With a chauffeur it is a single journey of about 85 kilometres, normally an hour and a half from the hotel door to the terminal.
The transfer runs both ways. On the last morning of a stay, the car collects you at a hotel on the waterfront or a villa in Pescallo or San Giovanni and leaves you at the departures door of your terminal. On arrival, it takes you from the plane to the lake without a timetable to read, which matters after a long-haul flight and for wedding guests who land the day before the ceremony.
The lake roads are narrow and winding, the kind you would rather not meet for the first time at the wheel of a hire car after a night flight. With a chauffeur you can spend the drive working or watching the lake, and the bags stop being your concern from the hotel steps to the kerb at Malpensa. If you fly private, the car can take you to the general aviation terminal instead of Terminal 1 or 2.
Two roads off the peninsula.
Bellagio has two ways out by road. The shore road runs south along the Como branch through Lezzeno and Nesso to Como, narrow and winding, with the water a few metres below. The inland road climbs through the Valassina past Asso and Canzo and comes down at Erba. The chauffeur picks one on the day, looking at the traffic.
From Como or Erba the car joins the motorways towards the airport, the Pedemontana and then the A8 past Busto Arsizio and Gallarate, and reaches Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. The whole route is in Italy, so there is no border to cross. Expect more time on summer weekends, when the shore road fills up, and in the Milan rush hour.

How long does the transfer from Bellagio to Malpensa take?
About an hour and a half for roughly 85 kilometres, and up to two hours with summer traffic on the lake or at rush hour. For a departure, add that margin to the time you need at the airport when you choose the pick-up.
Can the car reach a hotel in the old centre?
Not always: part of the old centre is built on stepped lanes closed to cars. Write the exact address and any access notes in the booking, so the chauffeur knows where to wait.
Can we stop in Como on the way?
Yes, ask for it in a quote. A stop changes the route, and the price can change with it; you see the full price before you pay.
Can I book the return to Bellagio at the same time?
