Bellagio sits on the point where Lake Como divides into its Como and Lecco branches, and getting off that point is the slow part of any departure, because the narrow road along the lake to Como comes before the first motorway. To Zurich Airport the whole drive is about 280 km, close to four hours, and most of it runs through Switzerland. It is the drive to book when your flight home leaves from Zurich, and it works the same way in reverse when you come back to the lake.
The pick-up is at the door of your hotel or villa, at the time you choose, and the chauffeur takes care of the luggage. Child seats and boosters are free, added in the second step of the booking.
Without a car, the same trip means a taxi or the ferry to Como, then the train from Como San Giovanni to Zurich Airport, with the suitcases lifted on and off along the way. With a chauffeur they go into the boot in Bellagio and come out at departures in Zurich. The price is fixed before you pay, with tolls in the quote. If you are coming back to the lake, the Zurich to Bellagio leg can be requested in the same quote.

The slowest part comes first: about 30 km of narrow road along the lake from Bellagio to Como, around 40 minutes. At Como the car joins the motorway and crosses into Switzerland at Chiasso, passes Lugano, climbs the Ticino valley to the Gotthard road tunnel and comes down past Lucerne to Zurich.
The other way off the promontory is the car ferry across to Cadenabbia or Menaggio, then the road along Lake Lugano to the motorway at Lugano. It is shorter on the map, about 255 km, but it runs to the ferry timetable, so whether it suits your flight is something to settle with the office when you book.
Queues at the Gotthard build on Friday afternoons, Sunday evenings and in Swiss and Italian holiday periods. When the tunnel is congested, the chauffeur takes the San Bernardino instead. You are told in advance, and the price you approved stays the same.

All vehiclesA couple or three friends with normal luggage travel well in a Standard Class or First Class saloon, 3 passengers and 3 bags; with a long-haul flight at the end of four hours on the road, the rear screens and tinted windows of the First Class are worth having. At the hotel door in Bellagio
The chauffeur arrives at least fifteen minutes before the pick-up time. Coming the other way, the chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall at Zurich, after customs, with a tablet showing your name.

What time should I leave Bellagio for a flight from Zurich?
Count on about four hours to the terminal on a normal day, then add the check-in time your airline asks for. On Friday afternoons, Sunday evenings and holiday weekends, leave more margin for the Gotthard.
Can you collect us from a private villa?
Yes. Give the full address, the number of passengers and the luggage. If the villa has a private entrance, a gate or a narrow drive, add it to the notes so the collection can be planned.
Do we cross a border?
Yes, from Italy into Switzerland, usually at Chiasso. Each passenger carries the travel documents required for their nationality.
Is Malpensa a better airport for Bellagio?
It is much closer: about 85 km, around an hour and a half by road. If your flight leaves from Milan, book the Bellagio to Malpensa transfer instead; Zurich is the right choice when your airline or your connection flies from there.
Can we stop on the way?
Yes, if you ask when you book. Como and the FoxTown outlets at Mendrisio, just over the Swiss border, are both on the route. A stop changes the route and the time, and the quote shows the price with it included.
Can I book the trip back from Zurich to Bellagio too?
Yes. Add the return leg in the same quote, with its own date, time and flight number, and both journeys are confirmed together.
I am flying private from Zurich. Where do you drop us?
At the general aviation terminal, instead of the main departures. Write the handling agent and the flight details in the booking notes and the office arranges the drop-off with them.
