WEF 2027: World Economic Forum event - Davos

October 27, 20268 min read

In summary: Book the journeys between Zurich Airport (ZRH) and Davos as airport transfers, then consider an hourly chauffeur for days with several meetings and uncertain finishing times. Blacklux gives an indicative driving time of about two hours and fifteen minutes in normal traffic. During WEF week, that estimate needs extra allowance for traffic, winter conditions and the access arrangements that apply to your destinations.

Build the day around arrival at the meeting

The municipal calendar lists the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting for 18–22 January 2027. Your transport plan should follow your own appointments within and around those dates, including arrival and departure days. Do not assume every engagement takes place at the same building or entrance.

For each meeting, record the time you need to be inside, the venue address and any entry instructions supplied by the host. A calendar invitation showing a start time does not necessarily tell the driver where passengers should leave the vehicle. Ask the organiser to clarify the entrance before assigning a pickup.

Then work backwards to departure from the hotel. Keep road travel separate from the time needed to enter the venue, check a coat or reach the meeting room. This makes a schedule easier to adjust than one that treats the car’s arrival as the start of the appointment.

Choose individual transfers or an hourly chauffeur

An airport arrival followed by a hotel drop-off is a clearly defined journey. A working day with a breakfast meeting, another venue, an evening reception and uncertain finishing times has different requirements. Decide which type of day you are booking before choosing the vehicle service.

Individual transfers can suit a small number of journeys with settled pickup times. An hourly booking can be more practical when you need the driver between appointments. Blacklux describes its Davos hourly service as retaining the car and chauffeur during the booked period, with waiting included. Confirm the hours, kilometre allowance, extension charges and end-of-service arrangements in your quotation.

For example, if a discussion ends later than expected, the next pickup may need to move. Agree on who will communicate the change and how it affects the remaining booking. Retaining a driver does not remove traffic constraints or guarantee permission to wait immediately outside every venue.

Give schedule changes one clear owner

Nominate one person to approve transport updates for the group. That may be an assistant, a travel manager or the passenger. The purpose is to avoid the chauffeur receiving conflicting instructions from several people while a meeting is still taking place.

A useful update states the revised departure time, exact pickup location, passenger group and next destination. “We are running late” explains the problem but leaves the next action unclear. If the ending time remains uncertain, say so and agree when the next update will follow.

Use one current itinerary and mark each revision with its date or version. Keep original flight details available, but remove superseded pickup instructions from the working schedule. Blacklux’s event mobility page describes coordination of movements and programme changes; agree on the contact arrangements for your booking before travel.

Split the group when the agendas split

Sharing an arrival flight does not mean everyone will follow the same programme in Davos. Identify which passengers move together and which have separate appointments. A vehicle chosen only from the total headcount may be unsuitable once colleagues need to leave different venues at the same time.

Ask for a plan based on simultaneous journeys, luggage and service periods. If part of the group finishes earlier, decide whether they return separately or wait for the others. Making that choice before booking is more useful than assuming one car can cover every departure.

Include the final evening and checkout day. Those are easy to overlook when attention is on daytime meetings, yet they can require different passenger groupings or additional luggage space.

Confirm access without assuming special privileges

The correct drop-off point depends on the instructions and permissions in force for the particular venue and edition. Share information received from your host with the transport provider and reconfirm practical arrangements closer to the date.

Passenger accreditation, a venue invitation and vehicle access are separate matters. A chauffeur booking should not be treated as evidence of entitlement to enter an event or restricted area. Avoid building the schedule around a doorstep drop-off until the relevant arrangements have been checked.

Keep a contact number for the venue as well as the transport provider. If an entrance or meeting point changes, both the passenger and driver need the updated location, rather than an old map pin forwarded without context.

Use a free interval realistically

A gap in the diary can accommodate a meal or a short walk, but only after considering the next confirmed appointment. Keep the activity near the places already on your route, and check local access and conditions before setting off.

Do not automatically reuse sightseeing suggestions from an earlier Davos trip. At the time of checking, the Kirchner Museum’s visitor page announces a closure from 4 January to 13 February 2027 for remodelling, covering the listed WEF dates. Recheck its official notice before adding a museum visit to the programme.

For a regional meal, look for Bündner Gerstensuppe, Graubünden barley soup. Recipes vary, but the tourism board’s version combines barley and vegetables with meat ingredients and cream. Ask the restaurant about its preparation if dietary requirements matter; the name alone does not establish that a soup is vegetarian.

Protect the return journey to Zurich Airport

Treat the airport departure as its own booking. Start with the flight number and the airport arrival guidance for that flight, then allow for the journey from your actual pickup address. Add hotel checkout and luggage collection before the agreed vehicle departure, rather than fitting them into the drive.

If you are considering a final meeting before leaving Davos, first check whether the transport plan can accommodate it. Do not use the normal-traffic driving estimate as the entire gap between the meeting and check-in. Ask the provider to reassess the pickup in light of the day’s route and conditions.

Zurich Airport provides check-in and baggage-drop information, including flight-specific arrival guidance. Check that information with your airline and keep any revised flight details in the itinerary. If colleagues depart on different flights, review the return groups separately instead of repeating the arrival arrangement.

Frequently asked questions

When is the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2027?

The Davos municipal calendar lists 18–22 January 2027. Check the official event and organiser information for updates before finalising travel or participation arrangements.

How long is the drive from Zurich Airport to Davos?

Blacklux gives an indicative estimate of about two hours and fifteen minutes in normal traffic. WEF-week traffic, winter conditions and destination access can affect the journey, so obtain an itinerary-specific plan.

Is an hourly chauffeur necessary for every day?

It depends on the schedule. Fixed journeys can suit individual transfers, while several appointments with uncertain finishing times may justify an hourly booking. Compare the actual hours and conditions required.

Can the driver wait directly outside every meeting?

Do not assume so. Waiting and pickup locations must follow the arrangements applicable to the venue. Confirm the practical meeting point with the transport provider and host.

What should an assistant send when requesting a quotation?

Send dates, flights, hotel and venue addresses, passenger groups, luggage and the required service periods. Identify simultaneous journeys and the person authorised to communicate changes.

Does booking a chauffeur include WEF accreditation?

No. Arrange event participation and venue entry through the relevant organiser. Confirm transport and vehicle access requirements separately.

What to do next

Request a Davos 2027 transport plan from Blacklux, including Zurich Airport (ZRH) arrival and return flights, hotel details and the daily service periods you need. Ask for airport transfers and hourly chauffeur options to be identified clearly in the quotation.
